10 AI Tool Ideas That Are Still Worth Building After GPT-4

Discover ideas with high search volumes to build AI tools that people are actually looking for.

Even if you’re tired of all of those AI threads on Twitter -just like me-, you can’t deny there are big opportunities for people to build tools and new features for growing SaaS. I know there are a lot of charlatans offering resources to “print money like crazy” using AI, and that new GPT-4 features coming out every day make you doubt what to build next to avoid competing with them.

So I started to search for ideas by looking for AI-related keywords with high search volumes, but also with low competitiveness and possibilities to rank on the first page of search results quickly.

By doing this, you make sure people are actually looking for these tools, and as they are easy to rank for, you can position your tool in no time with some initial SEO efforts.

This is a similar approach to the one described in my previous post about how to validate a business idea with keyword research. And it’s also what Charlie Ward from the Ramen Club did to build a chrome extension using GPT-4.

Here are ten ideas that I carefully selected using this approach, and that you can use as inspiration to add a feature to your existing SaaS or build an AI tool from scratch knowing that you can make it work even without any investment on social media marketing.

1. AI email assistant

Monthly search volume: +3K

This isn’t a fresh idea, I know that. But people are looking for AI email assistants a lot, and related terms are still easy to rank for if you have a good product and relevant blog content.

Email services are already integrating OpenAI’s API to build this feature with ChatGPT, but you can niche down to target a specific need to easily market your product.

For example, you could use the related term “cold email ai” to create a tool that targets people who do cold emails such as salespeople or freelancers.

2. AI meme generator

Monthly search volume: 9.5K

I’m sure you already tried Midjourney and other art generator AI tools, but what if we build a specific tool that streamlines the process of meme creation?

If you’re into social media marketing, chances are you already know how important memes are to boosting engagement. But it can be quite time-consuming to look for images and craft a humorous and ironic copy to go viral.

The tool could be as simple as having a library of images for memes and using AI to craft the copy you’ll use in the images. This can work to help people on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, or Facebook to increase engagement. Or you could focus on video memes for TikTok if you want to take advantage of the popularity of this social network.

Beyond the high search volume of related terms, this idea looks like a great opportunity to easily rank on the first page of search results pages.

Just take a look at the SERP analysis provided by Semrush:

What caught my attention was those three results because there’s a page that doesn’t exist anymore, a page with a 0 authority score and almost no backlinks, and a Twitter profile of a related tool.

These findings may suggest there’s room for new AI-powered meme generator tools. And if you effort into building a social media profile then you’ll have more chances to appear between the first results.

3. AI story generator

Monthly search volume: +25K

Many existing tools can help you in the process of content creation. I already wrote about how I’m using ChatGPT for content SEO, but the truth is we need more tools with models specifically trained to create unique and engaged stories.

With tools like Jasper and copy.ai, you might be thinking why build a new tool for this?

But when it comes to fiction and long stories there is still a lot to improve. Not to mention the terrible UX is more than one tool that’s ranking on the first page for these terms.

And people are searching for related terms, but may not find exactly what they’re looking for on their first attempt.

So you can take advantage and build a tool that properly balances short-form stories for free trials and long-form stories for premium users. And focus on providing a better user experience to make the process easier.

4. Art generator for TikTok

Monthly search volume: 18K

TikTok has over 1 billion users worldwide and it’s not a secret that video effects, AI art, and templates are an important part of the content creation process. Indeed, the platform already has integrated AI art and text-to-image features, but with only with very basic options.

You can use existing AI art models to improve AI art by enhancing video effects and by offering Midjourney-like tools to follow the latest trends.

The platform could be designed in such a way that users could easily upload their videos, select a filter, and download the edited video directly to their devices.

To monetize this platform, we could use a subscription-based model. Users could sign up for a monthly or yearly subscription to gain access to all the filters on the platform. We could offer different pricing tiers depending on the number of filters and the level of customer support provided. For example, a basic plan could include access to a limited number of filters, while a premium plan could include access to all filters and priority customer support.

In addition to the subscription model, we could also offer premium features for an additional fee. For example, users could pay extra to have their videos edited by professional editors or to have custom filters created specifically for their brand. We could also offer additional features such as analytics tools to help users track the performance of their TikTok videos.

5. AI resume builder

Monthly search volume: +9K

Finding a job is exhausting for most of us, especially if you have several skills and apply for jobs in different industries.

How many times have you missed an opportunity because you had to update a resume or create a new one from scratch to highlight a specific skill and experience?

In this scenario, AI can help to speed up the process so you can sketch a compelling resume in no time. How? by asking a few questions and using your experience to build a CV that proves your experience in a specific industry.

Also, there’s a keyword variation for “AI resume bullet point generator” so it’s a feature that you should include in this tool as well.

If you’re interested in building something similar, I would recommend checking the cover letter tool Vince Canger built using ChatGPT.

6. AI avatar generator

Monthly search volume: +29K

The profile pictures generated with AI had their boom last year, but people still look for them a lot and you can compete with the first search results if you are capable of building a decent product.

On the other hand, I can see most of these AI avatar generators resulting in anime or drawn pictures, but there are just a few tools that offer more professional outcomes.

So, if you’re interested in building profile picture tools or developing a similar feature for an existing site, you might have more chances to rank for related queries if you target professional profile pictures.

Another great approach would be focusing on a single social media platform to generate profile pictures. In fact, “ai avatar generator instagram” is one of the variations we can find in keyword research. 👉 Check out the complete keyword research for free.

7. Text-to-speech tool for YouTube

Monthly search volume: +6.5K

We are all familiar with image-related AI generators, but what about building tools for YouTube and TikTok videos?

One of the tools that people are looking for the most is the ability to generate voice from a simple text. And I have to say that I tried some of these to create YouTube videos in English without needing for recording the voice myself. You can find decent tools online, but most of these tools are too robotic or unnatural. So, if you can train your models better, you probably will be able to compete with existing tools.

Also, you could add basic video editing features to help content creators work on their videos right there on your site to add extra value to your site.

8. AI Video Enhancer

Monthly search volume: +10K

By using AI, you can offer a fast and efficient solution to video enhancement, which can save users hours that traditional editing take. Moreover, it’s possible to create niche video enhancers, such as those specifically designed for YouTubers, streamers, or Tiktokers.

From what we can see on the keyword research document of this SaaS idea, it might be a good option to include free limited features along with premium options

Moreover, competitor analysis showed us that investing in YouTube content is a great option to get close to potential customers. But you can also leverage some informational keywords from the keyword research spreadsheet to create tutorials and compelling articles to gain relevance in search results.

9. Lyrics generator for songs

Monthly search volume: +39K

Despite the discussion around the legal implications of AI used to create art, some musicians and producers are already using AI to create commercial music. And, of course, people are already searching for such tools online, so it’s a good moment to develop these tools.

There are many ways to add value to the music industry using AI, but today I’ll focus on writing lyrics. Still, if you’re into AI in music, you should check rhythm and melodic generators to see the bigger picture.

To face this project, we can take a look at traditional writing generators that usually target bloggers and people writing emails and social media copy. We can even integrate OpenAI API and use existing models but offer a friendly platform for musicians where you can change your preferences and adjust the result.

10. Tweet generator & editor

Monthly search volume: +25K

This idea might not look so new, but despite all the Twitter tools out there, people are still looking for an easy way to craft Tweet ideas using AI-powered recommendations.

And this is not me suggesting you build a generic tool to make random Tweets. Please don’t, because no one wants to read those robotic Tweets that clearly came from ChatGPT and look all the same.

But if we think this deeper, an AI tool can help you create and plan Tweets based on the content you already published.

You could use the tool to come up with ideas, refine your copy, and even repurpose another type of content such as blog posts or newsletters into threads while staying loyal to your brand and tone.
