Description

Data Community DC is a non-profit organization that organizes several monthly, free meetups for data scientists worldwide.

The community provides a space for education and professional development in data science. For this purpose, its main task is to organize meetups and deliver resources to members.

You can join the community simply as a member by participating in the meetups you find more interesting. Additionally, you can join as a volunteer or as an organizer if you want to further involve yourself in the community.

The community host many meetups and other events approximately once a month, and all of them are free. The events range from gathering and organizing data (DWDC), to developing options and hypotheses about the data (DEDC), developing algorithms (DSDC, WDSDC & FSDS), implementing those algorithms (SPDC), building businesses around the data, and communicating your work (DVDC). You will find more information about these events in the "meetings" section.

Each event has its own profile on the Meetup.com website. You can follow the events you are interested in to receive updates and information about upcoming meetings.

Furthermore, members benefit from juicy discounts on books, education, and in-person workshops. They can also find new career opportunities at the community's job board, and submit their work or explore other members' works in the gallery.

Learning Events

The community's iconic meeting is the "Data Week". A 5-day event in which organizers and volunteers create conferences and events open to the general public. These are held in Washington and lots of people attend. The focus is on providing learning and networking spaces for new people to meet the community. On the other hand, there are also virtual events for which you need to register previously.

Networking Events

The "Data Week" is an opportunity for members to do networking. New people attend the conferences so it is a good chance to invite them to be part of the community. Also, members interact through the community's monthly meetups.

Content Library

The community has a gallery section. This is equipped with visual content, especially graphics and histograms. Even though the key topic is data and technology, you can find extra graphics based on geography, teaching, and health. Additionally, you can subscribe for free to the community's weekly newsletter to receive the latest content on data science.

Benefits with other companies

Data Community DC has discounts and special offers for members. For example, you can get a 50% off on all courses of the Sulkingskillset platform by using the community's code. Also, you can enjoy a 30% discount on a book from Jonathan Schwabish and $100 off in-person workshops from DistrictDataLabs.
