Description

Gitcoin is a community for software developers that helps you to build open-source, decentralized projects through contests and funding.

The community has a Discord server with over 19,900 members from all over the world. To join is completely free and there are no requirements. Inside the online group, members ask questions, provide feedback, and join collaboration-based projects and contests.

Gitcoin offers you several ways to earn money, all payments are made in crypto. For example, the community's bounties are open freelance projects for developers. You can browse the different bounties to find the ones that fit your skills. This also allows you to network and collaborate with other developers in team projects.

Additionally, the community also offers hackathons and quests. Hackathons allow you to experience the experimental side of web3, finding creative solutions and gaining experience by building real projects. There are several hackathons per month. When you find one you'd like to join, the only thing left to do is to choose your prize and get to work.

On the other hand, quests are a way to learn while playing. According to your skill level, you can participate in different quests to learn about the web3 ecosystem and compete with other members. You will earn crypto rewards for the quests you complete.

Another way to learn is by joining the Kernel program. This is an 8-week program, divided into modules and with a structured learning approach. It will teach you how to build open-source, decentralized projects. The course divides participants into blocks of 250 individuals who will be collaborating all thorough the program. To apply is free. The fee to participate if you are accepted is $400, and $1200 for teams.

Lastly, Gitcoin offers a crowdfunding space for open source projects. The community gives grants to developers to make their projects happen. The 11th round for claiming grants is now open until January 31, 2022.

Quote

"Gitcoin gave me the first break into Ethereum and the crypto space. It helped me find bounties that I could work on and get paid in crypto. After my first ever bounty I got paid a lot and I felt euphoric." -Sebastian TF
