Description

Product Makers is an online free community created by the Productboard platform to discuss all things product making.

It's completely free to register to Product Makers. Inside, you will find members from all over the world discussing how to create better products. The community has a simple structure, with two main sections: "Using Productboard", and "Connect and Discuss". The first section is for members to get support when using Productboard, and find other people who are also building products on that platform. Also, it's for receiving product updates.

The "Connect and Discuss" section is where you can find news and announcements, along with a general discussion about product-building. Additionally, this section includes a space for members to share reading recommendations and media content.

Members can also attend events such as roundtables, and participate in a book club. Apart from this, there are two programs to meet other members: Meet a Maker and several Product Makers' Groups. These include location-specific groups and other interest and role-based groups.

No requirements.

Place
Meetings

The community has a book club. It was created with the purpose of bringing members together in weekly sessions. The idea is to choose a book and fix dates to advance in the chapters. Members' comprehension and questions create the discussions.

Members also attend roundtables. Topics are set by people attending each session. That is why the space is limited to 16 people. Roundtables are held on the second Wednesday of each month.

Learning Events

Members often attend online events. These are conferences and discussions aimed to help members find the tools and strategies necessary to create excellent products. Each event is directed by a different guest, which includes expert product makers from all over the world. Some events are born from how-to questions or tips.

Networking Events

Members of Product Makers have two big possibilities to interact. The first one is by joining the "Meet a Maker" program. It consists of an automatic match with another member. You will then connect through a 1:1, 30-minute video call. You can discuss product makers' issues but also get to know each other. The matches occur twice a month on Monday.

The second option is joining a Product Makers Group. Currently, there are groups for 6 cities: San Francisco, Prague, Vancouver, London, and Boston. There is also a general group for the Netherlands. Additionally, there are thematic groups based on interest or role, such as Product Marketing, Product Maker Book Club, Product Operations, Remote Only, and Womxn in Product.

Content Library

The community has a library full of posts with reading recommendations, podcast episodes, and additional resources. The idea is that each week members share a list of their favorite readings and podcasts during that week, creating a collaborative library of resources for product makers.

Courses/Cohorts

As a member of Product Makers, you can join as a mentor or mentee in a Maker Mentor Program. It's a coaching program to learn through collaborative sessions. Once you join this program, you will be asked to join at least three meetings on a quarterly cycle. The community matches mentors and mentees at the beginning of each quarter (January, April, July, and October). Indeed, this program gives you the chance to access curated resources and mentor & mentee playbooks.

"We had so many sources of feedback that managing it all was challenging. Productboard helped us funnel these inputs into one place, see trends, and make better product decisions.” -Sasa Batovanja
