In Discord Mobile
In mobile, the only way to cross out text is with markdown. Here’s how:
- Choose a server and channel: Select the server and channel where you want to send your crossed-out text message. If you’re not in any servers, create or join one from our list of Discord servers.
- Type your message with the strikethrough formatting: To cross out text in Discord, you’ll need to use the double tilde symbols (~~) on both sides of the text you want to strike through. Type out your message, like this:

- Send your message: Once you’ve added the double tildes, hit the ‘Send’ button. Your message will appear in the chat with the text crossed out, like this:

In Discord for Desktop
On the other hand, desktop also allows you to cross out text using predefined chat options. Here are the two ways to do it on mobile:
- Navigate to the server and channel Select the server and channel where you want to send your crossed-out text message.
- Type your message with the strikethrough formatting Just like on mobile, to cross out text in Discord on desktop, you’ll need to use the double tilde symbols (~~) on both sides of the text you want to strike through like this:
~~Text to cross out~~. But also, you can just write the text and use the chat options displayed on desktop.
- Send your message Once you’ve added the double tildes, press ‘Enter’ to send your message. Your message will appear in the chat with the text crossed out, like this:
