In Discord Mobile

In mobile, the only way to cross out text is with markdown. Here’s how:

  1. Choose a server and channel: Select the server and channel where you want to send your crossed-out text message. If you’re not in any servers, create or join one from our list of Discord servers.
  2. Type your message with the strikethrough formatting: To cross out text in Discord, you’ll need to use the double tilde symbols (~~) on both sides of the text you want to strike through. Type out your message, like this: ~~Text to cross out~~
  3. Send your message: Once you’ve added the double tildes, hit the ‘Send’ button. Your message will appear in the chat with the text crossed out, like this: Text to cross out

In Discord for Desktop

On the other hand, desktop also allows you to cross out text using predefined chat options. Here are the two ways to do it on mobile:

  1. Navigate to the server and channel Select the server and channel where you want to send your crossed-out text message.
  2. Type your message with the strikethrough formatting Just like on mobile, to cross out text in Discord on desktop, you’ll need to use the double tilde symbols (~~) on both sides of the text you want to strike through like this: ~~Text to cross out~~. But also, you can just write the text and use the chat options displayed on desktop.

  3. Send your message Once you’ve added the double tildes, press ‘Enter’ to send your message. Your message will appear in the chat with the text crossed out, like this: Text to cross out
