Side by Side is a community that focuses on providing a safe space for people to talk about their feelings and emotions. The community has around 25 available moderators from 8 AM to midnight, 7 days a week, to support people. These moderators are not trained to help in urgent cases but can provide exceptional support for those who need a friendly ear to listen.

However, if you are dealing with an urgent situation, the community has some resources depending on the case. For example, for people who are in danger of self-harm, Side by Side makes it easy for them to access professional support channels immediately.

The community has three guiding principles: being mindful, being kind, and being safe. Side by Side shares some best practices' to interact with others. These include not sharing your personal information, not participating in arguments, and reporting anything suspicious.

Once you register, you need to complete a survey about your experiences and interests. This helps the community show you the most suitable posts for you. In case you do not have a particular interest, you can click on "Show me everything" and access all posts. You also have the option to create your own post or you can reply to others' posts.

Learning Events

Sometimes, Side by Side contact experts and bring them to join the community in insightful Q&A sessions. In order to do this, members of the community send their questions previously so the expert has a bunch of questions to answer when the session begins. Normally, guests take one full day to answer as many questions as possible. These opportunities are great to leverage others' expertise and get answers to your most pressing questions about mental health.

Networking Events

Members of Side by Side can post about any mental health topic to interact with others in a feed. If you want to find posts about a specific topic, you just need to filter by interest. Side by Side allows you to vent your problems in a supportive space where others will be eager to give you feedback or just listen.

Side by Side is a registered charity in England. Its main purpose is to provide a safe space for people to find peer-to-peer support, and it accomplishes it by creating a free community where everyone over 18 years old can access, vent their problems, and find supportive, friendly persons to give feedback or just listen.
