Finding the ideal community it’s not an easy task. There are millions of Discord servers out there, which can make it difficult to find the right one. That’s why in today’s post, we will cover two methods for you to learn how to find Discord servers and start exploring the vast world of online communities.
Find Discord Servers on Unita
When it comes to discovering online communities, Unita is a very useful tool. The website gathers information on diverse communities worldwide, allowing you to compare them and even read reviews from community members. Here is how you can make the most out of Unita’s platform and find relevant Discord servers:
1. Choose a Category:
From Unita’s homepage, scroll down until you see the ‘Explore Categories‘ section. Here, you’ll find a list of over 30 different categories to choose from. Some of these include Business, Crypto, No-Code, Startups, Gaming, Marketing, and more.
Choose one of the categories depending on which type of community you want to join, and click on it. You can also use the ‘Category’ drop-down list in the menu at the top of the page to choose a category.
2. Filter Communities by Platform:
Now, we can filter all the communities on the list to make our search easier. Unita’s directory allows you to filter communities by platform, free/paid, virtual/in-person, cost, country, language, and more. You’ll find all filters on the left side of the screen.
Since we’re looking for Discord servers, we’re going to use the filter-by-platform feature. In the filters section, find ‘Platform‘ and select ‘Discord‘.
Besides the platform filter, feel free to leverage the other filters as well. For example, you can include two or more categories in the search, as well as filter by cost, method, or another variable. This way, it’ll be easier for you to find a Discord server that meets your expectations.
3. Read the Listings and Explore Communities
Now, you’re going to encounter a list of Discord servers in your desired category. Unita displays the communities’ names, alongside a brief description of what they’re all about and some additional information that varies depending on each individual community.
Browse through the listings and click on those you find interesting. This will take you to a page with all the server’s relevant information. This includes a comprehensive description, its price, method, events, benefits, social media links, and more.
If you like a specific Discord server, you’ll also find links to visit its website or join directly from the community’s listing.
4. Other Ways of Searching Unita’s Directory
If you’re not sure in which category the Discord server you are looking for fits, you can also explore all communities within Unita’s directory. From there, apply the platform filter of step 2 to view only Discord servers.
Another way to do this is by clicking ‘Discord‘ on the platform drop-down list that appears in the upper menu of Unita’s page. This will lead you to a list of communities of all categories that only include Discord servers.
On the other hand, you can use the search bar to find Discord servers by keyword. This works well if you know what type of community you want to join but it doesn’t fit properly in any category or it overlaps many categories.
How to Use the Discord Server Search
Now, we’re going to cover how to find Discord servers by using Discord’s server explore page. However, keep in mind that this method only allows you to find Discord servers that are public.
1. Enter Discord’s Public Server Search
From your Discord account, click on the compass icon that appears on the left side of the screen, just below the servers’ list.
(Keep in mind that Discord’s server search is only available on desktop. On mobile, you won’t be able to use this method, but you can always explore communities on Unita if you are on mobile.)
2. Explore Communities
Now, you’ll find yourself on Discord’s ‘Explore Public Servers‘ page. This will show all the public servers available for you to join.
The first thing you’ll see is a list of featured servers and a search bar at the top. The servers that appear on the front page are very popular servers within its categories.
Similarly to Unita’s directory, you can refine your search by clicking on any category you like. The available categories are Gaming, Music, Education, Science & Tech, Entertainment, and Student Hubs. Since these categories are very broad, you can further refine your search by searching by keyword.
3. Find a Server to Join
Each server on the list will display a brief description provided by the server owner, as well as the number of members and how many of them are currently online.
If you find a specific server interesting, you can click on it to preview the community. Since all servers on this directory are public, you’ll be able to enter any server to view its channels, rules, announcements, and conversations between members. Here, we chose the Midjourney server to preview the community.
If you decide to join a server, you can do so by clicking on the ‘Join‘ button that appears at the top of the screen.
Can’t find a consolidated server for a very specific topic? You can always create a Discord server of your own and invite people to join!
