While you can report individual messages directly from Discord, there isn’t a way to report an entire server within Discord. That’s why in today’s post we’re going to cover how to report a Discord server by contacting the Trust & Safety team, both on desktop and mobile.

Before Submitting a Report Request

To report an entire server, you need to submit a report request to Discord’s Trust & Safety team. This means the team will manually review your report to take action on the issue.

Discord alerts its users to not send false or malicious reports that mislead Discord’s support teams, or you may lose the app’s reporting functions. This is why it’s a good idea to make sure you are sending an appropriate report first.

If a single user is causing you trouble, you can easily block someone on Discord. On the other hand, if it’s a single message that breaks the rules, you can report the message by right-clicking on it and selecting ‘Report message‘.

However, when reporting an entire server, you have to collect evidence that shows repeated violations of Discord’s rules that don’t result in punishments to the users from the server’s moderators.

To collect evidence, you can take screenshots and copy individual users and message IDs (we’re going to cover how to do this in a moment). Additionally, make sure the violations you want to report are against Discord’s community guidelines or terms of service.

How to Report a Discord Server on PC

1. Enable Developer Mode

In order to collect evidence and help the Trust & Safety team to act on the issue, you must first enable Developer Mode.

You can do this by clicking on the gear icon next to your username to enter the user settings.

enter user settings

From here, scroll down until you see the ‘App Settings‘ category in the list on the left side of the screen. Then, click on ‘Advanced‘ and then enable the ‘Developer Mode‘ toggle.

2. Copy The Server ID

A server ID allows Discord to identify a server even if it changes its name. To collect any IDs, you need to have Developer Mode enabled (which we did in Step 1).

Collecting a server ID is as simple as right-clicking on a server’s icon or name. Then, click on ‘Copy Server ID‘ and paste it into a Word document or a notes app for later use.

3. Collect Evidence

Now that you have the server’s ID, you need to collect evidence that shows repeated violations of Discord’s rules.

For this, locate the messages you want to report and copy their IDs. You can do this by clicking on the three dots icon at the right side of a message and clicking on ‘Copy Message ID‘.

Then, you can also copy the ID of the user that sent that message. This will help the team identify the user even if they change their username. To copy a user ID, right-click on their username and click ‘Copy User ID‘.

You can also take screenshots of people breaking Discord’s rules within a server, and add them alongside the IDs in your report. This will make the report stronger and more possible to gain the Trust & Safety team’s attention.

4. Send a Report Request

To send a report request, visit Discord’s ‘Submit a request‘ page and complete the fields with the following information:

  • What can we help you with?: Trust & Safety.
  • How can we help?: You have three options here: ‘Report abuse or harassment’, ‘Report spam’, or ‘Report other issue’. Choose the one that better suits your case.
  • What would you like to report?: The options will vary depending on what you chose in the field above. Choose the one that better suits your case.

Additionally, don’t forget to enter the same email you use to log in to Discord.

Then, input a descriptive title in the ‘Subject‘ field and make your case in the ‘Description‘ box. Here is the place to add the users and message IDs you collected as evidence, as well as the server ID. If you take screenshots, add them in the ‘Attachments‘ section and click on ‘Submit‘.
