Description

Soapbox Project is a free community for environmentalists and global warming activists interested in taking action to fight climate change.

The community has a four-step process to dive deep into a specific topic every month (reading, listening, acting, and reflecting). Every week, you will receive content and recommendations related to the monthly topic.

In week 1, the Soapbox Project introduces members to a new topic. They include links to different articles but you can also read the most important takeaways if you are short on time. During week 2, you will receive a short podcast or video. The next week, the team features at least 3 actions you can take to contribute regarding the monthly topic. Lastly, the fourth week is an opportunity to wrap up. The community includes additional resources, book recommendations, and sometimes interviews with experts.

Moreover, the Soapbox Project is constantly working on new, free events to keep community members engaged. For example, you can participate in fireside chats, interviews, in-person events, action hours, workshops, and more. In case you cannot attend, you can watch the recordings. However, to unlock this option, you need to pay a membership of $9 per month. This will give you some other perks, such as discounts on the community's food course, access to all events, and a product library with sustainable lifestyle replacements.

By joining the Soapbox Project, you will also access a community section. Inside, members can discuss topics in a forum-like setting, and find useful, relevant resources. Overall, is a great community to join if you are looking to contribute to the fight against climate change but don't know exactly how to do it. The Soapbox Project allows members to connect with like-minded people from all over the world, take action, and become empowered.

Place

Meetings

The Soapbox Project organizes coffee chats twice a month. This is an event that allows members to develop deeper one-on-one connections with other activists from the community. There are some light prompts to guide the session, but overall is a casual chat that allows you to talk to others with similar interests.

On the other hand, the community also organizes fireside chats every week. These are interviews with expert speakers that focus on a specific environmental issue.

Learning Events

The Soapbox Project organizes conferences with experts in which a relevant topic is addressed. There is usually a section to talk about the topic itself and another space to focus on questions from the attendees. You can also participate in workshops and action hours, which are one-hour events that focus on taking relevant, concrete action towards an environmental goal.

Networking Events

Members of the Soapbox Project have their own community space where they can discuss environmental topics with like-minded people in a forum-like setting. Additionally, this is the space where the community's team posts announcements, upcoming events, job offers, and additional resources.

Content Library

The content is distributed by topics each month. Once the topic is set, the information is divided into four weeks using different formats. Week 1 corresponds to reading material (links to articles and the most important takeaways). Week 2 is for audiovisual content (podcasts and videos). During week 3 the community focuses on taking action with what they have learned so far, and in week 4 the team includes additional resources for a deeper dive.

On the other hand, the community's online group is an awesome place to find more content and resources. Inside, you will find recaps and recordings from past events, tools, templates, book recommendations, and a movie club.

Courses/Cohorts

The community includes a Food Course which costs $199. This is a 6-week course that dives deep into our global food systems to understand what climate-friendly food is and what actions you can take to contribute. You will be able to meet experts and make new friends while tackling consumption habits, labor rights, waste, and more.

Impact/ESG

The funds collected from the paid membership are donated to social justice organizations worldwide. Additionally, the Soapbox Project provides a relevant, free space for members to learn about environmental topics, take action, and develop a community to fight against climate change.
